Christmas Themed Makeup

This Christmas I decided to create a different Christmas themed makeup look for each week leading up to the big day. I don’t usually do themed makeup looks for Christmas or even Halloween, but 2018 was the year I decided to join in the festivities.

As a cruelty-free makeup enthusiast, each look was created using only cruelty-free products and the majority of these products are also vegan.

1. Deck the halls in boughs of holly…

For the first week, I challenged myself with this look inspired by the striking holly tree.

After failing to make a stencil for the holly leaves, I created this look by drawing out each holly leaf with gel eyeliner and my Sigma E05 brush which was perfect for sketching this out!

Main products used:

Holly leaf – Juvia’s Place The Magic Palette shade Aja, CYO Cosmetics Pigment Paint in Green.

Holly berries – Kat Von D Beauty Lip Liner in Rosary, NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Metallic Lipstick in Biker Babe, 3INA Shadow Paint in White

2. The Dark Side of Christmas

Although Christmas is associated with being a time of joy and excitement, for some people it’s a time filled with dread and anxiety.

Following last Christmas, millions of people across the UK entered 2018 with a “Christmas debt hangover”. Finding out that more than 100,000 people a year in England try to end their lives due to debt made me realise just how serious the consequences can be.

Buying shiny new toys and gadgets at Christmas (or any time of year for that matter) is not possible for everyone, but the pressure of Christmas has seen people put themselves in terrible situations to avoid disappointing their loved ones.

We know Christmas is about more than just presents, but society makes is very difficult for us to think about giving beyond presents.

Many of us ignore the dark side of Christmas, and I wanted to bring this to attention in this look.

3. Christmas Cut Crease

A festive twist on the ever-popular cut crease.

Nothing says Christmas like pairing red and green with a pop of gold in the inner corner of the eye. This look was inspired by my first ever and forever vintage Christmas jumper from Beyond Retro – swipe through the images to see the jumper.

I’m still learning to master cut creases but I had a lot of fun creating this and love how it turned out!

Main products used:

The Magic Palette by Juvia’s Place in shades Kogi (red), Buzo (green), Aja (dark green), and Nubia (gold).

Eyes Eyes Eyes Premium Faux Mink Lashes by Violet Voss

4. Festive Graphic Liner

For the final look in this festive series, I wanted to keep it simple. I had this graphic eyeliner look in my head for a few days and couldn’t wait to bring it to life! I finished this look off by smearing my eyelids in gold eyeshadow which these photos don’t do justice!

Main products used:

Kat Von D Beauty Lip Liners in Rosary (red) and Lemmy (green).

The Magic Palette by Juvia’s Place in shade Nubia
